# Turin Family Farm Observation Apiary Weather Observation Dataset

Version 0.1 public-release candidate

## Purpose

The Turin Family Farm Observation Apiary maintains this dataset to support research and observation of weather conditions associated with an apiary and agricultural site in Turin, Coweta County, Georgia, USA. It contains normalized weather observations from station `KGASENOI116`.

## Coverage and acquisition

The candidate covers sampling attempts from `2026-08-15T05:17:55Z` through `2026-09-26T02:30:02Z`. Observations are nominally collected at five-minute intervals from the Weather Underground `api.weather.com` current-observation API. These records are **five-minute observation snapshots**, not computed five-minute aggregates. Collection gaps and source/API outages are documented in the quality reports.

The owner identifies the station as a Sainlogic SA9. This is owner-provided equipment metadata and has not been independently verified from system records. No verified installation date, calibration history, or external comparison method is presently available.

## Files

- `daily/YYYY/YYYY-MM-DD.csv`: normalized snapshots partitioned by Eastern local date.
- `monthly/weather-snapshots-YYYY-MM.csv`: normalized monthly snapshot files.
- `current/current.json`: latest valid observation in the frozen candidate snapshot.
- `current/station-status.json`: acquisition status at the frozen snapshot time.
- `metadata/`: station, dataset, and quality-rule metadata.
- `reports/`: continuity, gap, missing-data, suspect-value, and repeated-observation reports.
- `DATA_DICTIONARY.csv`: field definitions, units, nullability, and timestamp semantics.

Measured and API-derived variables include air temperature, relative humidity, dew point, heat index, wind chill, wind direction, wind speed, wind gust, atmospheric pressure, rainfall rate, daily rainfall total, solar radiation, UV index, and station elevation.

`sampled_at_*` records when the logger attempted retrieval. `observation_at_*` records the measurement time reported by the API. Their difference is recorded as `observation_age_seconds`.

## Quality and missing data

All acquisition attempts remain present, including missing observations and API errors. Original quality flags are preserved. Additional publication flags identify suspect API QC values, negative observation ages, repeated observations, collection gaps, missing measurements, stale/delayed observations, and suspect pressure.

No interpolation is performed. Suspect records are retained rather than deleted or replaced. The pressure interval from `2026-08-19T13:34:00Z` through `2026-08-26T11:28:59Z` is flagged as suspect. Charts and summaries must exclude, distinguish, or visibly annotate these pressure values rather than silently treat them as trustworthy measurements.

Weather availability depends on the station upload and Weather Underground/API infrastructure. This release does not claim guaranteed continuous operation or automatic restart after reboot.

## Location and raw-data privacy

The public geographic description is limited to Turin, Coweta County, Georgia, USA. Raw JSONL source records are retained internally and contain more precise location metadata. Raw files and raw ZIP archives are not included in public release version 0.1.
